🔴BRICS' STRATEGIC WIN: Malaysia Joins BRICS, Russian FM Visits Malaysia As NATO Views Southeast Asia ...
hello everyone thank you for joining me in this episode I will share a very important update about the bricks expansion if you are subscribed to my substack you may have already read a recent post on this very topic but I imagine that for many of you this will be brand new this year has become a turning point for the bricks plus Alliance in terms of the UN precedented development and its strategic expansion and I say strategic because the bricks block now accounts for almost 45% of global oil reserves with only several months left before the bricks Summit this October the list of prospective members continues to grow and at the same time as you know very well if you're following my content the bricks block plans to launch a Commodities Exchange in addition to an independent Financial framework so it truly does have a lot going for it the expansion of the bricks plus Alliance is a truly remarkable Testament I would say to the global shift towards multipolarity towards peace and Corporation despite the escalating warmongering narratives that are pushed by Western political Elites a very important announcement came over the weekend following the formal visit to Malaysia by Sergey lavro who is the foreign minister of Russia the prime minister of Malaysia anoir ibraim announced that the country had formally applied to become a full member of the bricks plus block PM anoir Ibrahim had confirmed Malaysia's intention to join bricks to Brazilian president Lula D Silva last month and now it's a done deal Malaysia sent a formal application letter to Russia since Russia is the 2024 chair of the bricks block there is a quite noticeable shift in Southeast Asia a month prior to this in June Thailand announced that it had submitted a formal request to join the bricks plus block during the bricks foreign ministers meeting that took place in N novr Vietnam another key actor even though it still appears to be on the fence about its membership in the during that meeting it agreed to increase cooperation with Russia in defense and in energy sectors now let's quickly chat about the role of Malaysia's membership in the alliance Malaysia's membership is a very important step and it should not be underestimated despite the ongoing dispute that is related to the South China Sea recently Malaysia and China actually strengthened their economic ties via new bilateral five-year Trade Agreement the trade ties between the two countries Malaysia and China that is have been growing very quickly over the past decade trade nearly doubled from $ 106 billion do worth in 2013 to $27 billion in 2023 it is safe to assume that this year and onward they will ramp up cooperation their bilateral trade relations mainly focus on integrated circuits petroleum gas and Equipment Additionally the expansion of ties between Russia and Malaysia has become one of the top priorities in PM anoir ibrahim's foreign policy Russia ranked as Malaysia's eighth largest trading 2023 bilateral trade between the two states includes primarily Commodities such as crude oil and coal exports from Russia to Malaysia have grown immensely similarly to the trade ties between Malaysia and China as I discussed 44% between Russia and Malaysia in turn Russia is much less dependent on Malaysia's exports at the moment primarily Imports to Russia are Machinery oils and miscellaneous equipment therefore it is not too surprising that prime minister anoir Ibrahim repeatedly emphasized that the bricks membership holds substantial promises to both Nations strategically Russia is a very important partner and so is China of course in general anoir Ibrahim appears to be very focused on International collaboration rather than leaning one way or the other besides trade ties that support economic development of course the bricks Alliance will also benefit from Malaysia's supportive position on dollarization this is the second key reason why Malaysia's membership is a GameChanger during PM anoir ibrahim's recent trip to China which I believe took place in March of this year he was very straightforward in his support for ditching the dollar he said last year Malaysia had the highest investment ever but the currency was still attacked well it has eased in the past few weeks but it doesn't make sense it goes against basic economic principles a currency that is completely outside the trade system of the two countries and is irrelevant in terms of economic activities in the country has become dominant purely because it is used as an international currency therefore he's definitely calling for the expansion of trade ties using local currencies the third reason why Malaysia is very likely to be accepted this year to the alliance is its strategic location given NATO's aggressive stance towards China and of course naturally towards Russia but given his clear goal to expand into Asia Malaysia's role will be unparalleled in my opinion now that NATO clearly announced that it is setting up an office in Japan this area of the world is definitely front and Central so in my opinion the timing of the bricks application matters as well I believe that it is not surprising that the membership announcement came during the uh foreign minister Sergey lov's two-day visit to Malaysia the meeting between uh prime minister anoir ibraim and the delegation from Russia focused on cooperation and peace initiatives prime minister Ibrahim and foreign minister Lov discussed Malaysia's application for membership in the bricks Alliance they also spoke about their intention to enhance bilateral cooperation of course I don't think that they will be using the US dollar to transact and they are particularly interested in focusing on strengthening ties in key areas such as investment and trade science and technology in agriculture defense and Military in education and tourism as well as in culture Malaysian prime minister and foreign minister lavro discussed the ongoing escalations in the Middle East as well primarily in Palestine Malaysia and Russia reiterated their support their very strong support for Palestine to be recognized as a full member of the United Nations both leaders voiced their support for permanent ceasefire and immediate humanitarian relief to Gaza besides m Asia a number of Southeast Asian countries are moving forward with joining the bricks block it is a significant shift in traditional International Paradigm as an increasing number of states acknowledge the Block's geopolitical and its economic potential the membership in the alliance underscores an increasing in my personal opinion an increasing interest in corporation in terms of investments in terms of of crossb trade and of course infrastructure development so following the expansion of the Block in early 2024 the combined economies are now worth more than $30 trillion they account for 1 fifth of global trade and they represent nearly 40% of the global population according to the latest IMF forecast Western economies are expected to continue slowing down considerably while the econ economies of China and India two of the blocks founding members are forecasted to exceed growth expectations the bricks plus has clearly become more than just an economic block but a symbol of a global shift in centers of power towards multipolarity while the blocks members do not have an aggressive stance towards the West they're focused on creating an alternative and fair system that would facilitate economic growth prosperity for emerging markets and that would amplify peace efforts on a global scale thank you for watching I hope that you enjoyed this video I hope that you found it informative if you did please show your support make sure that
