The world is waiting to see how Iran and Hezbollah will respond, after Israel carried out multiple attacks and assassinations that included the killing of a Hezbollah commander in Beirut and the Hamas political chief (and top ceasefire negotiator) in Tehran. Veteran Journalist Marwa Osman noted that while the message from Israel is clear: they want a regional war, and they don't want any chance at a ceasefire with Hamas, what is also clear is the right of Iran and Hezbollah to respond to the red lines Israel has crossed. Because for every unanswered attack, Israel only continues to increase its violations of international law.

want to take away from that at all but I do want to expand the conversation to talk about how children as a whole in

this area are continuing to it experience the tensions that are going

on all around but also learning from it because the reality is that they have parents who have been through this

before right they have parents who have grown up in this region with these tensions been impacted by it but are now

playing a role in this ongoing resistance not just against Israel but

against the us as a whole against the US coming into their region and deciding

that it is going to tell people who is in charge or how how their lives are going to be deciding that they are going

to continue to arm Israel to use Israel as their aircraft carrier in the Middle

East of sorts and to not just wreck havoc but to carry on an allout genocide

this waiting period that we're currently in is the waiting kind of part of the punishment here well U say Hassan the

hasah chief yesterday during the seventh day commemoration of the martyrdom of leader Commander s mson known as known

as say m his name is f shukur uh he said that the waiting process is part of the punishment but the waiting process

process is also stressing for for us as well maybe not as much because we've been under this kind of aggression for

the past 10 months along with a genocide going on in occupied palestin in Gaza uh

but the waiting is tense and I think uh the majority of those of us who are really uh stressing about waiting is

that we are both excited and concerned excited because it's about time someone

put a leash uh on Netanyahu and made him stop there are red lines that you do not

drop uh if you think that you're Crossing it in Gaza then you can cross it in Beirut that is absolutely not the case not

because Beirut is U much more important than Gaza absolutely not Gaza is the most important spot on the planet but

it's because if we don't put leash on it we're going to see more atrocities and I think it is part of the support for Gaza

and the protection for Lebanon uh so uh that's why we are excited to see it but we're also concerned because at the end

of the day Rachel you might want as an adult to be part of a resistance or to be part

of the support group or support system for Gaza but you have kids you know what I'm saying and you're concerned that

your kids might be traumatized they might see something that you saw when you were a kid and never ever wanted to

to have your kids see that because my eldest now is 11 years old and the first time I ever witnessed the War I was nine

I was younger than her and uh she's dealing with it much better than uh how

I dealt with it as a kid maybe because um I have so much more knowledge than

what my par parents had because we did not live in Beirut but we were on vacation and it started in

1996 uh but uh maybe because I'm more knowledgeable on the um military level

and the um strategic and political level maybe but also it has to do with the kids themselves and uh with the

resilience that I see in their eyes and I try not to show them a lot what's going on in Gaza because I I remember

myself being traumatized when I was uh nine and seeing my own Community when I saw the first baby without a head being

pulled out of the rubble I don't want my kids to see that but I do want them to see that there are atrocities so I pick

what they need to see because I don't need them to uh live with that uh maybe

uh maybe we're in a spot in the world rer where eventually they might have to face it uh but I'm trying to protect

them as a mother as much as possible but I do show them I do show them uh some atrocities because they need to know

what's going on in the world and I do show them the resilience of the uh children in Gaza and the people and the

women and the the elderly and how they're coping and how they're smiling and some of them are dancing because

that that's the only way to do it or else you go crazy and uh they they understand what's happening and that's

the worsome part but the resistance has to do what the resistance has to do at the end of the

day yeah and I I appreciate you sharing that because I can't imagine what it would be like to be a child in this

situation you know even just yesterday with Israel coming in and breaking the sound barrier over Beirut with a number

of Sonic booms I mean a as a child you have you may have no concept of okay is

this fullon war right you don't really understand the psychological warfare that we're currently going through back

and forth and even if you're not a child in Gaza where clearly they are going through so much I mean still I would

think being in Beirut there's a lot of uncertainty a lot of fear and a lot of I mean you only have so much life that

you've lived to be able to compare this current experience too and I think just looking at the current state of things

you know it has been a bit shocking to see Israel carry out the string of

attacks and assassinations that they did last week and it feels insane to say

that right they're carrying out a full on genocide no consequence and they expect no consequences Rachel when you

when you spoke about what happened yesterday in beut with the with the six Sonic Booms The Sound breaking the sound

barriers you say how kids are really uh they're aware of it but there's a question that they always answer because

the first thing they say is it an air strike and you tell them no because there's a different I'm a bit experience

from the 2006 where I know when it's a sonic boom when it's an air strike when it's coming from a a marine Vessel where

it's when when it's coming from an actual artillery shelling so I know the difference this sounds this sounds crazy

but that's reality um so I explained to them that um no this is not an earthw this is just a sonic boom and I keep

explaining what a sonic boom is because they're too young to understand the physics behind it how how it's happening and how the waves are are making that

that sound and how the plane is moving so fast and I try to explain it and the question is why if they are not bombing

something if they are not conducting some sort of why are they doing this and the only answer is Terrorism they are

terrorizing the public uh to because the the sound of the Sonic Boom Rachel is is

at least three or four times louder than the sound of the air strike and it

sometimes causes the uh uh the glass and and the houses to break because of of

cooking and preparing to listen to say's speech I was in the kitchen and I had to and I found them standing there in the

long hallway and house and I stood there and just said breathe just say B in the

name of God breathe it's okay there is a second one coming and I was joking about it on social media today saying that the

the the sentence that we repeat now every day is wait for it there's a second one coming so don't be alert be

alert don't be afraid because it always comes comes in pairs so it's just breathe they when they see you as an

adult dealing with it uh normally they accept it but they don't know what's

going on on the inside they don't know how you are melting on the inside because you're seeing the terror in their eyes you might really don't care

have adapted for the situation and you completely uh accepted your fate that you might die in an hour tomorrow it's

fine um for for an adult but for a kid it's hard to explain and for a mother it's hard to see it in the eyes of the kids

so when that happens and you see the resilience you start understanding uh

why the kids in in Gaza are acting that the way they are despite the fact that they have the upcoming years that they

will witness are going to be very very tough and challenging for them while they uh start um created their creating

their own personalities and their own attitudes in the world so that's what really uh hurts my heart yeah yeah and I

know that you know so many we we've all had experiences as children that we remember that stick with us and I know

that's got to be particularly hard because on your end you're able to look at this and to compare it to what you've

been through before and you know you you want your kids to see that resilience but at the same time you you don't want

them to be so traumatized that they are you know forever remembering this moment that they're in and I know that that's

it really is a Human Experience that so many people around you are going to be able to relate to and you know going

back to what we you were saying about almost kind of that excitement waiting to see okay what is going to happen and

just looking at the string of attacks that Israel carried out last week I mean it it was kind of surprising to see it

seems as if they want a response from the entire axis of resistance it's almost like they were begging for some

sort of regional conflict what kind of a position does that put not just Iran but

also Hezbollah and other members of the resistance in when they're they're trying to weigh okay we have to respond

but at the same time they have made it very clear look we don't want a regional War we just want you to you know let the

Palestinians be free stop bombing them and starving them to death exactly but let me let me tell you something Rachel

I was following the news um since yesterday especially after the uh speech of say and I was watching a bit of um

Zionist media and uh I was um interested to know what they think about the

assassinations that happened and uh a large number of the people especially whom are members of the keset uh and the

Israeli knesset uh and one of whom uh was actually a former prime minister uh

also talking about these assassinations and he specifically said that this is a proof and evidence that Netanyahu does

not want to go to to the negotiation table that n Now by killing the top negotiator who's sitting just across of

an Arab Israeli I don't know how that works but he's part of the geness anyway and he was saying that um that keeps

saying that he's doing this for deterrence what kind of deterrence and he says like he says a word that is very famous in Arabic and apparently they use

Israel conducted the assassination operation on Iranian soil killing a guest for the Islamic public and he said

civilians all civilians in one neighborhood in that area so hasah responded with a barrage of 50 to 60

entered and landed especially in marot and inaria and in other areas of uh

I understood that he's sending me this because he's saying that this is how you usually run away from an A strike this

uh along the way to understand this and to get more mature and to get over this

today this morning Rachel a video of a six-year-old kid who speaks perfect

Arabic and you know Arabic is a very very hard language and and his pronunciation is perfect he's such a

beautiful boy and he's explaining with such eloquence how the Israeli

soldier uh barged into their house they started shooting they they shot his

mother who was seven months pregnant in her belly and she bled till she died and then his father who was sleeping he

awoke and he started running and they started beating him up and then they uh

fired at him in front of that six yearold he was five he's now turning six instead of in front of that 5-year-old

kid and he's retelling the story and you can watch his eyes and you see how the

the vision is moving those slides are moving in front of his eyes and then at the end she asks him okay what do you

want now and he says a piece of cake I want a c do you have candy I want a piece of cake oh

wow and it's just you sit there and you're going how is it and I know you

know we talk about how children are incredibly resilient and they are but

it's like that you have a part of the world where they're going through things that right I mean Kids In America adults

in America right we have no concept for what these children are going through

even when it comes to just not only the atrocities that they're facing in the violence but also being in a position of

starving and not having any of their basic needs met and you have someone like Israel's Finance Minister F

smotrich who made a recent comment claiming that oh it would be moral and Justified to starve two million

Palestinians to death and it's like we're we're sitting here yeah I'm like we're sitting here not only watching a

genocide being played out right before our eyes and live streamed all across social media but we're we're watching

the intent right we're watching the rhetoric from the Israeli officials who we've seen since day one since October

7th their rhetoric has B that they are going to carry out a genocide and we've

watched them do that and I know that there is certainly a lot at stake here all around and I really appreciate the

work that you're doing on your end and also the the work that you're doing as a mother to educate your children I know

it's not easy going through everything that you've been through but really working to help the Next Generation

because I think that even now I hear this in America where people are saying oh you know why have kids this world is

going to hell right they have so much pessimism and they're living in America where all of their needs are met and

they have nothing to really actually be concerned about so I I do appreciate the work that you're doing there and you

know keeping that hope alive because that's that's all we really have at the end of the day and and I want to thank
