Video Infoblog: US Hypocrisy on Gaza: Antony Blinken’s Double-Speak on Human Rights
15 Aug 2024
This is a brief discussion of the two-faced stance of US government and Secretary Blinken on human rights as they apply to people of Gaza.
a few days ago American Secretary of blinkin issued a statement on X about us commitment to international rights and I found that statement deeply hypocritical especially within the Kaza so let us look at this statement and talk about it a little bit so Mr blinken says today we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the 1949 the United States reaffirms our steadfast commitment to respecting International humanitarian law and mitigating suffering in armed conflict we call on others to do the same so let us first just simply look at the statement so the secretary is unequivocal commitment United States commitment to International humanitarian law which means the laws of Geneva Convention and everything else as related to to conflict zones and also asserts that they are mitigating the disastrous or delorious impact of conflict good and then wants other nations to do so what it presupposes is that United States is exceptions and Mr blinken as the secret of state of the most powerful Nation on the planet is reasserting his and his government's commitment to the principles of international humanitarian law and then expects that other nations would follow the rules too I mean this is the same Secretary of State who defied the very dictates and spirit of international humanitarian law so far when it comes to Gaza I'm not just pulling these words out of thin air there is evidence to that so A few months ago the Secretary of State and his office had to render a report to the record that report was meant for the laws which are named after Senator Ley require the Department of State to certify that for any military aid to be given to any us Ally the Department of State has to certify that those Munitions are not being used against International humanitarian law in that report even though the secretary's people pointed out that there were at least three battalions who prevaricated now the accounts by the Department of State Career officers who resigned over this suggest that at a certain point the writing and research of the report was taken away from the experts and was decided at the highest levels so not only did the secretary and and his office write a report in which confirm that atrocities were being committed in Gaza that civilians were being starved their children were being killed but any acts of atrocious acts of Israeli armed forces the only thing there was that Israelis are conducting inquiry it gets worse in the same report one Israeli Battalion was singled out as violations and it was decided that that Battalion would be sanctioned but just recently about a week ago and you can look it up the US government decided that they will not stop issuance of us ammunition to that Battalion as well a battalion that was initially singled out as head having provable offenses that under Ley laws would have made it impossible for the US government to send military aid to so when secretary blinken issued this laudable statement on the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the international human regime those words are not backed by his action or the actions of the United States government in another scenario a journalist openly asks the White House Press Secretary as to whether they agreed to un humanitarian laws Geneva Convention does it apply to Gaza and that person could not answer that question you can look it up so where does United States stand when it comes to the murder of more than 40,000 Palestinians in Gaza 16,000 over 16,000 of them are are children the starvation of a people displacement of millions upon millions of people and daily killings of Palestinian civilians we have no clear answer to that the only answer that we can extrapolate from United States in okay now I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't do blanket condemnation of large segments of the human population or countries I always look for the positive aspects of Any Nation or any group of people because I mostly want to Hope but with the actions of United States in this conflict in the and the way they have allowed the state of Israel to continue their Campaign Of Destruction and starvation there is no way any employee of the US government or elected official of the US government can say it with a straight face that they are committed to the international human rights regime and that they would like other nations to follow that as well these are the things we have to think about yes I understand the US media as well as the general public okay there is an already prec constituted bias against the Palestinian people against the Arab people against the Muslims but does that mean that we need not to question our own assumptions about this particular part of the world I mean how is it in United States you watch the movies TV shows no TV show or movie would ever tell you that you have been conquered so you should stand in line and obey your conquerors no the American narrative is built on Resistance armed Palestinians let's not talk about armed resistance at all their very existence is seen as a contaminating their rights are not equal to Human Rights their murders are not considered starvation doesn't pull any capital so at the end of the day Mr statement about the regime of international humanitarian laws is nothing but empty words but by a person himself made sure that not only that the right-wing Israeli government continues destroy Palestinian lives but that there are no consequences for them for that and he has done that through his work words so my question to you is this we all live in this world this is one you live in America I live in America if you are okay with children murdered ask yourself why is it so if religious does that religion permit it if you are just simple people like me code is it so deteriorated that you find okay to kill children and starve a people and take away their dignity and do you think that by suppressing a group of people for 75 years by destroying their will destroying their systems destroying their culture do you think way for the state of Israel to exist so Mr blinken's statement made me think about these things you know on an empirical level that what he's saying is a pack of lies right but on an emotional psychological and philosophical level it should force us responsibility and then it should also ask us to question you know where do we why now I'm pretty sure I will get some comments here they are always of the same sort people who believe that children can be killed because they are somehow implicated in the project of what the adults are doing people who openly State on this forum and other forums that Palestinians are by their truth these are the people who were evicted from their land these are the people who live in refugee camps inest W Bank in Gaza these are the people whose rights have been acknowledged by the United Nations and by a majority of planet these people have been under military occupation for over 70 now they are being systematically destroyed those who have been captured tortured these are all the facts now now make up your mind if you're a liberal or conservative I actually do not care if you're a human being in this world and you're okay with then you know we have lost as Humanity but overall these are my views on the hypocrisy of US foreign policy in this matter but also the blatant hypocrisy of secretary blinkin talking about human rights while he himself has enabled the Forces to destroy Palestinian lives in total disregard of the international humanitarian regime International regime that's it from me today thank you so much I hope you are safe stay safe take care of each other and as always
